Lattiz® sustainability

Lower Carbon Footprint

The carbon footprint of Lattiz® is between 19–23% lower compared to alternative milks (UHT or consumption milk) and frothing methods (steam wand, automated frothing). This result is from a lifecycle assessment (LCA) study conducted by Blonk consultants in 2019.

Reduced Energy Use

20–40% less energy is needed to create the optimal temperature milk foam with Lattiz® compared to alternative milks (UHT or consumption milk) and frothing methods (steam wand, automated frothing). This result is from a lifecycle assessment (LCA) study conducted by Blonk consultants in 2019.

High Yield Packs

One efficient Lattiz® pack of 4 liters serves milk foam for about 140 cappuccinos, based on our reference cappuccino of 180ml. It consists of 30ml espresso, 50ml milk foam, 55% foam fraction and barista quality settings. Our product portfolio also has a Lattiz® pack of 2.5 liters, which serves milk foam for approximately 85 cappuccinos based on the same reference.

Reference Cappuccino

Our reference cappuccino is an important metric (180ml cappuccino, consisting of 30ml espresso, 50ml milk foam, 55% foam fraction and barista quality settings). It is also the basis for our calculation of “16 x 1l cartons = 1 Lattiz®”. In this calculation, we are referring to the 4 liter Lattiz® bag in box.

Storage & Packaging Savings

When we say that Lattiz® requires 35% less storage & handling and 50% less packaging material, this is compared to 14 (1 liter) Friesche Vlag langlekker milk packs.

Recyclable Packaging

The Lattiz® carton box is fully designed for recycling and consists of 62% recycled material for the 4 liter packaging and of 47% recycled material for the 2.5 liter packaging.

Energy-Efficient Heater

We are continuously trying to step up our game, and one such improvement is the new water flow through heater in Lattiz® machines. The water flow through heater in the Lattiz® Advance machine saves up to 168KWh per year, compared to the double thermoblock heater.

Nutritional Value

A cappuccino with Lattiz® is a source of calcium and protein. We calculated this information based on our 180ml cappuccino reference cappuccino, consisting of 30ml espresso, 50ml milk foam, 55% foam fraction and barista quality settings.

Simple Ingredients

Lattiz® is transparent in its ingredients and nourishing by nature. Removing water is what makes Lattiz® a concentrated milk. The only ingredients added back to the milk in the process are a small amount of two salts to obtain the perfect milk taste. For the curious ones, the two salts are Potassium chloride and sodium chloride.

European Sourcing

You might know that milk in Lattiz® comes from Europe. But we would like to specify better that it is from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. Talk about being sourced nearby, am I right?

Consumer Preference

We see that milk-based coffees are more popular than ever, as research shows that more than 78% of consumers in Europe typically consume milk-based coffees. This information is from the 2024 Q1 Consumer Survey Interactive Data “Flavor Preferences in Hot Beverages” of GlobalData on July 2, 2024, where respondents were asked what type of coffee do they typically consume.
